Monthly budget calculator
Put income, expenses and planned savings on the same monthly basis, using your own amounts.
Canada; amounts in Canadian dollars (CAD) · Reviewed 2026-10-03
Use take-home income: the money you actually receive after deductions. Enter your own amounts, not a target or a typical Canadian cost. Blank fields count as zero, so check for missing costs before using a result.
Your monthly plan
All amounts are CAD. Use numbers without commas or a $ symbol, with up to two decimal places. Enter 0–10,000,000 per field. Blank means zero, not a confirmed cost.

Monthly conversion: weekly × 52 ÷ 12; every 2 weeks × 26 ÷ 12; twice a month × 2; monthly unchanged; yearly ÷ 12. Annual averages, not a payday schedule. Balance = income − expenses − planned savings.
Planning arithmetic, not financial advice or a benefit, tax, debt-interest or affordability assessment. Do not count the same money in more than one row.

How to use the worksheet and calculator
- List money actually received, your expenses and any planned savings. Group extra items into “Other”; keep your own breakdown offline.
- Choose the frequency for each row. Weekly × 52 ÷ 12; every 2 weeks × 26 ÷ 12; twice a month × 2; monthly unchanged; yearly ÷ 12.
- Add each category's monthly equivalents. Balance = income − expenses − planned savings. Do not round each converted row first; round final totals to cents.
- Review missing amounts and compare with actual spending. A yearly average is not the cash available on a particular payday.
These annualization conventions assume 52 weekly or 26 two-week payments, not a particular calendar year's payday count. Twice a month means 24 payments a year, not every two weeks. For variable income, choose an amount you can explain and revisit it; the tool does not forecast earnings.
