Privacy

You can browse Maple Neighbours without sharing personal information. There are no accounts, sign-in, analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts. The newsletter is entirely optional.

Optional newsletter

If you sign up, we store your name, email, and phone number only if you choose to provide it, together with the submission time. We use your name and email for occasional newcomer resources and pre-launch newsletter updates. Your phone is not required and will not be used for calls or texts. Please leave it blank if you do not want it stored. Signing up is not a condition of using any guide.

We won't share your information for advertising or sell it. Submissions are stored in our Cloudflare D1 database; Cloudflare provides the hosting and storage infrastructure in its North America region, not a guarantee of Canada-only storage. This is not a promise that data never passes through our infrastructure provider.

For basic abuse prevention, the server stores a secret-keyed hash of your IP address that changes daily, not your raw IP address in the submissions table. The hash limits new sign-ups to three per minute per network address. It is not used for analytics. Cloudflare may process request information, including IP addresses, to operate and secure the service.

Newsletter records are retained until you ask us to remove them or we close the pre-launch list. A public, monitored privacy/contact address and an unsubscribe process must be in place before newsletter emails are sent. Until then, the list only records interest; no mailing or SMS service is enabled. Once emails begin, each newsletter will include instructions to unsubscribe and request deletion. Do not include immigration, financial, health, or other sensitive information in this form.

What stays in your browser

  • The newsletter invitation remembers when it was shown or dismissed using a localStorage timestamp, so it does not reappear for three days. A separate local flag suppresses it after a successful sign-up. These values contain no name, email, or phone and are not sent to the server. Clearing site storage resets these preferences; different browsers have separate preferences.
  • Search and filters run locally. Your search text and chosen area never leave your device; we do not collect precise location.
  • Your first-steps checklist exists only in the current tab. Closing the tab clears it; printing happens on your device and printer.
  • The food overview uses bundled public address coordinates, not third-party map tiles or tracking code.
